The star of my Foundation year studies. It was later exhibited at the London College of Fashion. Ah, back when I had university tutors who inspired and encouraged me.

Silent Interview with Commentary

I should have more stills later, but for now, two pictures from my pre-performance art instillation - a live painting. The portrait now hangs happily on my wall, and the sitter will be taking it home soon for a small fee.

More in [info]baritaria and my scrapbook gallery.

These are prototypes.. they are functioning marionettes, and I'm going to be selling some, hopefully by October, for around $300. Obviously they take a while and lots of effort and materials to make, so if you'd like to call dibs on one before I put them on a craft selling website, give me a heads up.

"The first 15 people to comment on this post get to request a sketch of a subject/character of their choosing from me. (I'll do it here at work on a daily calendar page) In return, they have to post this in their journal (you don't have to.. but I'd be interested in the artists I know doing it too). Post all fandoms you're willing to draw for."

I'll draw from any fandom if you give me a ref. picture with your comment, just in case I don't know it.

Fun!

Art Attack!

  • May. 3rd, 2007 at 1:06 AM

This will not be a terribly rambling post as I haven't the time or indeed the will. Thankfully, the excitement will be over at last on the 11th and I can concentrate on staying in the country.

Went to a highly enjoyable exhibition of Jamie Reid's art, which is really amazing. British history, rock history, and general wonderfulness. It's truly frightening the way the British government reacted to the Sex Pistols and their.. well.. existence... but also Jamie's art.

Also: Look what I found!

WHAT THE HELL! It is awesome! I want to live there - on that set! And sleep up high between huge gloved fingers.

Anyway. Here's some Scarlet Pimpernel art. I'm SO into him again. Oh yes.
Enough to go out and buy the old Baroness and read the original.

Soft Furnishings V2.0

  • Mar. 16th, 2007 at 1:50 PM
Sodomy

This is Cortlandt Manor Band's rival, Soft Furnishings, who they go up against in Battle of the Bands. While Corlandt Manor uses almost no songs with drums, and lots of strings and romanticism (a la the Irrepressibles), Soft Furnishings uses synths and have a heavier sound. (more like Roxy Music meets Dethklok)

Left to Right:
Trafalgar Square (vocals + guitar)
Soho Square (drums)
Belgrave Square (synths)
Russel Square (vocals + maybe another guitar)

Yes, I intentionally gave themost masculine sounding name to the one who's definately a girl. They actually are meant to be personified illustrations of the squares in town.. accepting possibly Trafalgar, who should really be dressed as Nelson, or at least be wearing a lion pelt. David suggested they be called The Squares, but I thought that was too gimmicky, and I absolutely LOVE the name Soft Furnishings. They don't look like the original Soft Furnishings at all, (in fact I think only the Alison-type one survived) because Viv is already there and having two incredibly tall dapper lesbians in one comic would be a bit much, and the Nicky one would have been too similar to Marius, and the Me one would be.. well... too much of an insert. I still don't know whether Trafalgar is a woman or not. Would be interesting either way.
Their record company? Seven Dials.
